Paul Luscombe was a member of the esteemed brotherhood of accountants. I airbrushed this one. And it was good enough for me to take a special trip to the office supply store to get a colour copy.
These drawings are all done in pen, brush and ink. They are generally done with students buzzing around, working on their practical exams, during the last two weeks of school. I got away with calling the work inspirational demonstrations done for the students.
Paul was another one of the few who seem to have a sense of proportion about the job. He always had good advice and gave it out only when asked for it.
I enjoyed doing this drawing of Chris. I did all these drawings, and dozens of similar ones, in colour. The problem was that there was no colour photocopier in the school. The other problem was that I didn’t get a record of each one because I would often colour them before thinking to get a black and white photocopy.
I always enjoyed talking to Mike. We have both left teaching now. I really miss him. He seemed to have an excellent sense of proportion about the job.
Every teacher in the school agreed that the most competent and dedicated employees in the school were the office staff. This is Eleanor Tuttle. I wonder where she is today.
Another esteemed colleague. Some teachers have been an inspiration to me. Then there are those like Judy who seem to be an inspiration to every one.
Here is another one. I have never met this man but I had lots of news clippings and photos to work from. He was an art teacher who devoted his life (to the point of retirement) to his art and to his students. It was an honour to be able to draw him.
